At Lottie M. Schmidt Elementary School, our Student Services team supports students with academic, social-emotional, behavioral, developmental, and special education needs. We are requesting funding to make our Student Services office a more calming and welcoming space for students. Funds will support sensory tools, calming items, flexible seating, SEL books, visual supports, fidgets, and therapeutic games. These resources will be used for individual student support, SEL lessons and groups, small groups, and students who need help regulating. Students may come to our office feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious, or upset, or simply needing a quiet space to reset before returning to class. These materials will provide hands-on opportunities to practice coping skills, emotional regulation, problem-solving, and positive social skills. The materials will serve students across grade levels and programs for years to come, helping create a space where students feel safe and supported.
