I am applying for a grant for the use of Pear Deck for my students in my middle school classes. Pear Deck is an interactive software tool that teachers use to turn presentation slides into active, two-way learning experiences where every student responds directly from their own device. This program is beneficial for middle school students because it reduces anxiety, it allows all students to participate, it supports diverse learning styles, allows for real-time formative feedback and keeps students focused. The program allows every student to interact with content from their own device. Funding for Pear Deck would provide my students with a tool that supports engagement, inclusion, confidence, formative assessment, and differentiated instruction to be used with my Science lessons.
