The classroom project that I'm hoping to achieve is to create Tonie listening centers for our kindergarten program. Our CKLA (Core Knowledge Language Arts) program includes valuable opportunities for students to develop phonics, vocabulary, listening comprehension, oral language, and reading skills. During CKLA small-group time, teachers work with students in targeted groups while the remaining students participate in meaningful literacy activities. The Tonie machines will provide an engaging, screen-free listening station that can be incorporated into our CKLA small-group rotations. Students will be able to listen to high-quality stories, poems, songs, and other age-appropriate audio content while developing important literacy skills. The Tonie machines can also support differentiation. Students who need additional exposure to stories, vocabulary, or oral language can listen to content multiple times, while teachers work directly with another group of students.
