Our Growing Together project will bring our teenage student teachers and preschoolers together to learn through gardening. High school students in our Early Childhood Education program will learn about plants and how gardens grow, then share that knowledge with the children in our licensed Teens for Tots preschool.Together, they will plant seeds and seedlings in raised garden beds on our playground and care for them throughout the growing season. The preschoolers will learn about nature, responsibility, and where food comes from through hands-on experiences. Our teenage student teachers will gain valuable experience planning lessons, teaching science concepts, and building leadership skills.This project will create meaningful learning opportunities for both age groups while turning our playground into an outdoor classroom where students can learn, explore, and grow together.
