In my fifth-grade classroom, students bring diverse strengths, needs, and learning styles. Traditional desks and chairs do not fully support them, particularly those who benefit from movement, sensory input, and alternative learning environments.Flexible seating is a research-based practice that promotes choice, movement, and collaboration. Studies demonstrate that when students can select where and how they work, they are more engaged, cooperative, and responsible. For many of my Title-I students, who may lack access to quiet or supportive study spaces at home, a flexible classroom environment provides the comfort and autonomy they need to thrive. This project will transform my classroom into a dynamic, student-centered environment by introducing flexible seating options such as wobble stools, floor cushions, lap desks, and collaborative tables.
