Our project will transform an unused classroom next to our Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) preschool classroom into a dedicated Gross Motor and Movement Learning Room. Many young children who are deaf or hard of hearing benefit from additional opportunities to develop balance, coordination, body awareness, strength, and motor planning. Grant funds would allow us to purchase developmentally appropriate equipment such as balance beams, stepping stones, tunnels, gross motor building pieces, sensory-motor equipment, and movement activities. The space will provide structured and purposeful opportunities for children to move, explore, follow directions, practice spatial concepts, build confidence, and develop social skills. Movement activities will also be paired with listening, language, vocabulary, counting, sequencing, and turn-taking, allowing us to support the whole child while reinforcing our preschool curriculum in an engaging, hands-on environment.
