I am requesting funding for improvements to the sensory room at Erie that supports our CLP (Creative LearningProgram) special education students. The sensory room provides a safe and supportive environment forstudents who experience sensory processing challenges, anxiety, or difficulty regulating attention and behavior. Byincorporating a variety of sensory tools (including weighted items, visual stimulation, tactile activities, flexibleseating) students will have opportunities to regulate emotionally and physically, reduce stress, improve focus, and engage more fully intheir learning. This space will support the social-emotional and academic growth of all students, particularly thosewith disabilities or sensory sensitivities, and will foster a calm and inclusive school environment. Currently, our dedicated sensory space lacks equipment necessary to support the needs of our ever growing and changing special education program at Erie.
