Austin Catholic High School is seeking to enhance its rigorous STEAM program by purchasing a 3D scanner that converts physical objects into CAD models within minutes. Through our STEAM program, students engage in hands-on, project-based learning focused on engineering, design, and real-world problem-solving. Our students use two existing 3D printers to design prosthetic arms for children in need and are currently developing 3D-printed wheelchairs. A 3D scanner would expand these opportunities by allowing students to scan objects, create digital models, and refine their designs through the engineering design process. This technology would strengthen students' understanding of CAD, reverse engineering, and product development while equipping them with valuable technical skills for college-level engineering and STEM coursework. Most importantly, it would empower students to use innovation and technology to develop meaningful solutions that improve the lives of others.
