In my early childhood special education classroom, the right materials can make the difference between a child watching from the sidelines & actively participating in learning. For my students, engagement is the doorway to learning. Many of my students are developing the skills to communicate, attend, play with peers, regulate their emotions, & complete simple learning tasks independently. Having a larger variety of motivating, developmentally appropriate materials will allow me to match activities to each child's interests and abilities to meet their needs, build on their strengths, & create more successful learning experiences throughout the day. These resources will be used across multiple skills, routines, & students, making them a lasting investment in our classroom. The materials will be used throughout circle time, centers, small-group instruction, & 1-on-1 learning to build communication, early academics, motor skills, social-emotional skills, independence, & peer interaction.
