Our fourth-grade team is seeking funding to support a hands-on Market Economy Project that will bring Michigan's social studies curriculum to life for 60 students across three classrooms. As part of our study of Michigan's economy, students explore concepts such as natural resources, goods and services, specialization, trade, and market systems. This project turns abstract ideas into a memorable experience by allowing students to design, produce, and sell their own goods and services during a classroom "Market Day." Students will create products or services, set prices, advertise, and run businesses using classroom currency to buy, sell, and trade. This immersive simulation helps students apply economic principles, strengthen math and communication skills, and practice creative problem-solving. We are requesting $500 to purchase craft supplies, display materials, classroom currency, and marketing resources. These materials will be reused annually for future classes as well.
