I am requesting $750 to launch Stock the Lounge, a student-run vocational and life-skills program in my Level 3 Autism Spectrum classroom at Boulan Park Middle School. This is my first year at Boulan Park after spending six years working in an elementary school. I entered this position with limited materials and no established curriculum, creating an opportunity to build meaningful experiences around my students' needs. Stock the Lounge will provide snacks, candy, pop, and caffeinated beverages for teachers and staff to purchase throughout the school day. My students will take inventory, restock, advertise, shop for supplies, interact with staff, and count money from sales. Purchases will be made with cash or Venmo. This project will connect academics to real-world skills, including math, communication, organization, money management, responsibility, and problem-solving. Once established, the lounge will become self-sustaining through sales.
