Stand up paddleboarding (SUP) strengthening muscles while improving balance and cardiovascular health. It's a great way to reduce stress and connect with nature. This lifelong, low-impact activity can be adapted for various ages and fitness levels, making it a versatile activity for physical and mental well-being. At Northern we have an Outdoor Pursuits class where we learn about water safety and paddling skills. We practice in the pool before we try paddling in a local lake (during our camping trip). Right now we have to borrow SUPs from community members in order to run this unit. Last year we only had 3 available and students had to rotate. A $750 grant would help our PE department be able to purchase 5 more SUPs, which would increase the amount of time each student would have access to a board.
