My “Flexible Seating for Focused Fifth Graders” project will use the $750 grant to purchase durable wobble stools, floor cushions, lap desks, balance seats, and other portable seating options for approximately 24 fifth-grade students at a Title I school. Flexible seating will give students safe choices that support comfort, movement, focus, and active participation throughout literacy, math, science, social studies, small groups, and independent work. This project will especially benefit students with ADHD, anxiety, sensory needs, or difficulty sustaining attention while supporting every student’s independence and self-awareness. Students will learn clear expectations for selecting, sharing, and caring for each seat based on where they learn best. I will measure the project’s impact through student surveys, teacher observations, work completion, and time-on-task. These reusable materials will benefit my current students and future fifth-grade classes for years.
