Math Talk Lab - Building Mathematical Thinkers Create a classroom "Math Talk Lab" where students regularly solve challenging problems and explain, defend, question, and revise their thinking. The grant funds could be used to purchase the following for students to use: Math discourse cards, Whiteboards, Manipulatives, Visual models, Sentence stems, Math journals, Partner discussion routines, "Which strategy is better?" challenges. The project will give fifth-grade students structured opportunities to communicate mathematical ideas, listen to multiple perspectives, justify their reasoning, and develop confidence as mathematical thinkers.
