"Little Explorers: A World of Culture" will bring the world into our preschool classroom through hands-on learning, art, music, movement, stories, and family participation. Throughout World Cultural Week, students will discover what culture means and explore how families around the world may have different languages, clothing, traditions, foods, music, and celebrations. Students will practice saying "hello" and numbers in different languages, locate countries on a globe or map, and listen and move to music and dances from Middle Eastern, African, Latino, and other cultures. They will compare traditional clothing with their own, design cultural outfits using art materials, and create artwork inspired by cultural colors, patterns, and symbols. Multicultural books will encourage conversations about similarities and differences. A special Cultural Dress-Up Day will bring children and families together to celebrate their heritage and learn from one another.
