Exploring advanced watercolor techniques

Liberty Middle School

Meier

Share:

Students will use artist grade watercolors to create a variety of watercolor techniques which they will demonstrate in a final draft painting. I plan to dive deeper into color mixing, color theory, color schemes, and a variety of techniques in creating visual effects with watercolor paints. Currently, the student grade watercolor paints that are available are very low quality, sticky, and limited in their application, making it difficult for students to use them successfully in their work. I am hoping to have students apply their new skills to either a sea life painting project, or we might explore Michigan lighthouses and incorporate skills in perspective drawing as well.
