This project is designed to transform my 7th grade math classroom into a dynamic space that fosters deep critical thinking, collaboration, and problem solving. Using the Building a Thinking Classroom framework, students will engage in meaningful mathematical tasks in small groups, working at vertical rolling whiteboards to make their thinking visible. Randomized groupings and collaborative problem-solving structures will ensure every student has the opportunity to contribute, take risks, and build confidence in their reasoning. Grant funds will provide rolling whiteboards, which are essential tools for creating an environment where students are actively engaged in exploring concepts rather than passively receiving information. These will allow students to communicate their reasoning, test strategies, and refine their approaches in real time. The overall goal is to shift classroom culture from one of compliance to one of curiosity, where students think like mathematicians.
