The "Living Science: Our Classroom Ecosystems" project will bring the study of animal classification and ecology to life by introducing living animals into our 3rd-grade classroom. With the grant, we will adopt a snake, hermit crabs, and frogs, and all of the supplies required for their care. These classroom pets will serve as a focal point for lessons in biology, animal behavior, and environmental science, aligning with our CKLA curriculum (Units 2 and 11). Students will engage in daily observation, care, and maintenance of these animals, fostering a deep connection to the natural world and an understanding of ecological balance. This project will not only enhance our science education but also promote responsibility, empathy, and teamwork among students.
