cross-curricular differentiated workstations
School: Beacon Tree
I would like to enhance my workstations to make them more engaging, exciting, fun and differentiated. I would like to offer different options at each station so students can make choices that are geared towards any child, at any level. I would like to foster a rich environment that encourages teamwork, risk taking and collaboration with others. I would like my stations to be cross curricular to overlap different subject areas. For example, students could combine a math and engineering lesson by using Lincoln logs or legos to build a bridge so gnomes can get across a lake to their village. Students could combine art and writing by using stickers or stamps to create a scene with characters and then write a story about it. Students could practice letter and number ID by using multiple mediums, such as ink, chalk, paint, play dough, shaving cream, etc. Students could listen to stories using QR codes on their ipads then use giant white boards to sketch out the problem and solution.
