As a speech-language pathologist, serving children ages 3-6 in the Lansing School District and Head Start, my goal is to transform my small classroom into an inviting, engaging, and innovative space for speech therapy. I work with children who have various disabilities, and I believe that a warm, welcoming environment plays a key role in fostering positive experiences for both students and their families. Many of my younger students prefer working on the floor, but the current setup isnât conducive to this. I am requesting a carpet to create a more comfortable and accessible space, allowing children to engage more freely. Additionally, I would love to introduce new cause-and-effect and open-ended toys that will inspire participation and engagement during child-led therapy sessions. These toys will not only make therapy fun and exciting but also help each child work toward their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals.
