Through the years of teaching, I have accumulated many good literature books for my collection. The one main thing I am lacking is diversity in my books. I want to have books that represent the students in my class and the many backgrounds that they come from. I would like to collect 3 common categories of books Back to School (getting along with others), Fairy Tales, and Biographies. I would like to be able to purchase books that will allow students to see themselves in the story and have a better world view of life and how to handle situations that come along. Fairy Tales will be able to show a lot of different cultures and are wonderful for comparing/contrasting. Biographies will help students see the endless possibilities of what people from different backgrounds and cultures are able to achieve when they put their mind to it. By continuing to develop a diverse collection of literature will only help my students grow and flourish to become better citizens and improve their future.
