Creative Problem Solving and Experimentation through Gelli Monoprinting
School: Commerce Elementary School
The visual art room is a place where many different projects and ideas are born. It is a studio in which every student in the entire school benefits. Over the years I have hoped to order Gelli printing plates and tools so as to create a new type of monoprint with my students. The types of projects are limitless for these printmaking tools. Unfortunately, our budgets have not allowed me to realize this dream. Art is a place where all can be successful and where all students come together, regardless of the language that he/she speaks, where reading and math levels are not measured. Being innovative with new project ideas helps students to become better artists, yes, but more importantly creative problem solvers, which is a 21st century skill for all. My students and I would be very grateful to have this grant to try this new type of art together!
