Social Emotional Literacy in the Classroom
School: Beacon Tree
Social-emotional learning is the process of students learning self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success. Studies have shown a correlation between the skills taught in social-emotional learning programs and academic achievement, positive behavior, and healthier life choices. My goal is to incorporate childrenâÂÂs literature and social-emotional learning to create a safe place for my students to discuss emotions and problems that may interfere with learning. With this grant, I will purchase childrenâÂÂs literature, materials to use with correlating STEM activities, and craft supplies to use on Feeling Friday each week.
