School: Anchor Bay High School
I am the Medical Education teacher at Anchor Bay High School. I work with students to prepare them for the medical field. One of the areas all medical education students must learn is American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Medical Education 1 students learn Heartsavers CPR/First Aid. Medical Education 2 and 3 learn Basic Life Support (BLS). These skills are essential to working in the medical field as they are essential in the community. The more students that know CPR, the more lives that can be saved. Unfortunately, our current equipment is not up to date with the current standards of American Heart Association. Our manikins are not equipped with a feedback device. A feedback device will provide students with a sound that will help them learn the correct rate, rhythm & depth they should be providing while doing CPR. With this grant, this gives us the opportunity to purchase equipment with a feedback device to help our students provide effective CPR.
