Myself, Lindsey Somoski, and my Social Work partner, Andrea Smith, are looking to create a space in the building that will provide all students with the opportunity to feel comforted and supported. We would like to use this grant to create a social-emotional area that will be fully equipped to support students of all social, emotional, and behavioral needs. The area will be held in our library and available to students throughout the entirety of the school day to utilize when feeling overwhelmed, needing to regain focus, or wanting a quiet and comfortable space to work. While the area will be open to anyone, anytime, us two SSW's will also be in the space providing services to students using the tools and resources we hope to obtain with this grant. Current topics that we feel are critical to address and teach to our students include self-awareness, relationship skills, self-management, social awareness, and responsible decision making skills. Attached is a photo of our current space.
