Lakeview High School seeks to build a system that incentivizes climate, culture, and positive behaviors in the classrooms. We have worked for the past year to develop a team of teachers, counselors, and support staff who are willing to serve on the building PBIS team (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) , focusing on creating a safe, positive, and productive learning environment for all students and staff. PBIS is an evidence-based, tiered framework that guides schools in implementing proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors. PBIS shifts the focus from solely reacting to misbehavior to proactively encouraging and reinforcing positive behavior. This fosters a more supportive, inclusive, and welcoming atmosphere. Our "project" is requesting funds to continue to grow the incentives that we provide Lakeview High School students in our proactive approach.
