Since I began my teaching journey, I have always wanted to share my love of gardening with my students. When I take my student out to do field studies to observe the environment around our school, I feel that we are missing a huge learning opportunity that could be gained with a rain garden. With these supplies, we would not just stop at the rain garden. I plan to help my students build vegetable gardens in the future that would teach them where their food comes from, and how to grow it themselves! There are so many possible learning opportunities that would stem from this project that I feel so passionate about. This project would create a sense of connection to the world around them and their immediate community. When students feel connected to the world around them, they want to help people in the world around them. When people help each other, awesome things happen.
