The money from this grant would be used to bring in a yoga instructor once a month to help students with emotional management. The techniques learned during our sessions with the instructor can help relieve stress and improve mood, as well as help with anxiety and depression. This experience would not only help teach students how to calm themselves if needed, but it would also show students other things they can do to improve their daily lives both inside and outside of the classroom. Students would also be supplied with their own yoga mat so they can utilize and practice these breathing and stretching activities at home. It also gives them the ability to share their learnings with friends and family. Most of all though, yoga gives them the tools to help themselves find a calm to their personal anxieties and stress. SELF-CARE is an every day necessity!
