My Classroom Economy is a dynamic program, initially created by a fourth-grade teacher and further developed by Vanguard Investment Firm. Through this program I can instill financial responsibility in my students via enjoyable, experiential learning. This program revolves around a straightforward classroom economic framework, where students must accumulate school "dollars" to secure the rental or ownership of their desks. Each student earns a salary commensurate with their assigned classroom job and has the potential to earn bonuses for exemplary behavior and performance. Conversely, violations of class rules may result in fines. At the conclusion of each month, students can utilize their hard-earned savings to participate in a Class Auction. By incorporating these real-world scenarios into the classroom, students learn the value of earning a paycheck, the principles of maintaining financial records and the repercussions of their choices related to saving, spending, and budgeting.
