Over 75% of our student qualify for free and reduced lunch. As an alternative program with a start time that differs from the high school in which we are housed, many students do not eat breakfast. We can obtain breakfast foods from the cafeteria, however they are often frozen and do not keep more than 1 day. We would like to have a small refrigerator and a microwave in the classroom for students to be able to access and use so they can eat more nutritiously. We would also like to have our classroom community turn this into a sharing option for water. Student often are spending a lot of money on vending machines to get water since they don't bring anything with them. We would like to be able to have access to bottled water and would ask the classroom community to bring in extra water when they can, and be able take water when they don't have any.
