I am asking for a grant to purchase learning games and items for my centers that help teach phonics and basic vocabulary/sight words to my students. We have a large number of middle school special education students who cannot read above a first or second grade reading level. I wish to work in small groups with my students to reteach any elementary reading skill they missed out on due to school closures because of COVID or any other reason. I feel the building blocks of reading are missing and I will rebuild my students skills so they can learn to read and become more proficient across the curriculum due to their increased reading skills.
