Non verbal and minimally verbal students need the opportunity to be able to communicate their knowledge to the staff as well as interact with their peers. In our preschool and lower MOCI classrooms, there are currently 20 students. A significant portion of the student population are nonverbal or limited verbally. Communication devices allow an equal opportunity for the students to convey their wants, needs and knowledge base. Currently most options available for our students are lite tech such a core boards and switch devices.Lake Shore has one to one technology for our students but these are not equipped with AAC apps. We would love to add high tech AAC apps to devices to allow for greater functional classroom communication.
