I have 177 students this year from many different countries. I asked for a show of hands of how many have a sewing machine in their homes and how many have sewed before. There were only 3 from my 5 classes. I have taught Art at Everett High School for 34 years. I am currently getting ready for a display with MSU at the Flint Institute of Art featuring 19 Faceless Ponies. My students have helped me with this project. I hear comments like" I want one." I want to teach them how to make their own and learn many skills in the process. We need 2 Singer 4411 Heavy Duty Sewing Machines cost $159.99 each at Amazon. Ginger Dressmaker scissors $29.39 each. CRAFTISS Skeins of Yarn $37.99. Fabric Minky soft dotted fabric 36 yards in all different colors, threads and Polyfill stuffing. My students would develop skills in making so many choices, designing patterns, pinning, cutting and sewing a stuffed pony. Their work would be displayed in their Student Art Show in April.
