Developing 21st-century skills at an early age
School: McGlinnen Elementary
My name is Laurie Kania and Iím a second-grade teacher at McGlinnen Elementary in Clintondale Community Schools. Every student of mine will benefit greatly if we receive a Classroom Cash Grant for $750.00.We want to utilize the SmartBoard and the Chromebooks, which each student is gifted at the beginning of the year, to their fullest capacity, but with our existing equipment we are unable to.Our projector is on its last legs. Itís very blurry and dim and soon will no longer function. If selected, I will get a new projector and add new software that will allow for full utilization of both. My students could be using their Chromebooks to interact and learn as I am teaching a lesson or project on the SmartBoard!Iíll also introduce Google Docs, but to do that I need this platform so the students can see what is on the board as I show them step-by-step.By being awarded this grant ensures that all my students develop the 21st-century skills that are needed in order to succeed today.
