My mission is to make ALL students feel included in STEAM. This year, I am starting an Adapted STEAM class for students in our categorical special education programs. These students will be paired with peers from their grade level and challenged with projects like the ones we do in our elective STEAM classes. To make the content feel accessible to our special education students, I will need some robotics equipment that is more appropriate for their developmental level. VEXgo kits serve that purpose. Along with the kits, there is a more developmentally appropriate STEAM curriculum that I can utilize to provide our students with disabilities a rich and meaningful learning experience. I am excited to provide this opportunity for our special education students, and to the grade level peers who will be mentoring them. The entire package, with curriculum, will cost $995.21, so this grant could really help us offset the start-up cost of our program. Thank you for the opportunity.
